Sump Pump Installation in Orillia
Your sump pump is the one appliance in the house you never think about — right up until the night it doesn’t run and the basement pays for it. If yours is old, loud, or cycling strangely, it’s cheaper to replace it on a Tuesday than at 2 a.m. in a spring thaw.
Signs Your Sump Pump Is on Its Way Out
- It’s more than 7–10 years old
- It runs constantly, or barely runs at all
- New grinding, rattling or humming sounds
- It trips the breaker or smells like hot electrical
- Rust on the pump or a oily sheen in the pit water
- The pit fills and the float doesn’t trigger the pump
What We Install
- Primary pumps sized to your pit and your water table — Orillia’s spring water table is no joke, and an undersized pump loses the fight slowly.
- Battery backup pumps — because the storm that floods basements is usually the same storm that knocks the power out. A backup keeps pumping while the power is off.
- New pits, lids and discharge lines where the existing setup is the actual problem.
What a New Pump Costs
Your price is set at a free estimate, in writing, based on your pit and the pump your house actually needs — we won’t sell you the biggest pump on the shelf if the standard one does the job.
How the Job Goes
Free estimate
We test the existing pump, check the pit, the float, the check valve and where the discharge line sends the water.
Install
New pump set, check valve replaced, discharge sealed and tested under a full pit of water before we leave — not just plugged in and assumed good.
The 30-second test we teach you
Pour a bucket of water in the pit. If it kicks on and clears it, you’re protected. We show you how, and suggest doing it a couple of times a year.

Do I really need a battery backup?
If your basement is finished, or your pump runs often in the spring, yes — most sump failures we get called to are power-outage floods where the pump itself was fine.
How long does a pump last?
Most run 7–10 years. Past that, replacement is maintenance, not bad luck.
My pump runs all the time. Is that normal?
Running often in a wet spring can be normal. Running constantly in dry weather usually means a stuck float, a failed check valve letting water run back, or a pump losing its prime — all worth a look before it burns out.
